Sailfin Tang, Zebrasoma veliferum

Good morning, Happy Friday and Happy February!

A rather short & sweet post today: this Friday's image is a Sailfin Tang, Zebrasoma veliferum . I took this picture a few years ago now. Popular in the aquarium trade, Sailfin Tangs are marine reef fish with a large natural distribution, from Oceania/Australasia and the South Pacific to the Indian Ocean. They can grow up to 40cm long and are herbivores. Quite a lot of fish can change colour to a degree under stress. Usually, this means becoming paler and less visible; in the case of the sailfin tang, they can turn dark brown coloured under stress. It is also known for having very sharp scales at the base of its tail, that it can use as a sort of weapon, if threatened.

Next post will be on Monday - some more quotes from famous luminaries, with some commentary on the side.
See you then,
Victoria
